Description
A bag containing 75 grams of AquaFix hydrogel for feeding insects with water. Aquafix is indispensable for breeding crickets, cockroaches and other food insects.
The hardening of the hydrogel water reduces evaporation from the container without causing a sudden rise in humidity in the insect container. The hydrogel is completely safe for the health and condition of insects.
By using the hydrogel, you will increase the efficiency of insect breeding and minimize the losses associated with drying out crickets (cockroaches) or too high humidity in the breeding container and drowning insects in tanks of water.
The offered portion is enough to thicken 15-23 liters of water (depending on its hardness and degree of mineralization).
We recommend serving the hydrogel on flat plates (Petri dishes).
Preparing a hydrogel is simple:
It should be mixed with water in a weight ratio of 1: 300 to 1: 400, i.e. 1 gram of hydrogel for 300-400 ml of water.
For example: 10 ml of dry hydrogel is enough to form a gel in about 2.4-3.2 liters of water.
Unlike most garden hydrogels commonly available on the market, the AquaFix we offer is a so-called potassium hydrogel (potassium methacrylate salt). Compared to sodium hydrogels, potassium hydrogel is approximately 40-50% more efficient in binding water and does not disturb the mineral balance of insects. The hydrated hydrogel has a low viscosity – even insects the size of cricket dust do not stick to the surface of the hydrogel.
AquaFix in dry form is coarse-grained, unlike fine-grained hydrogels, it does not depolymerize at temperatures above 28-30 degrees Celsius – while in the case of garden hydrogels applied to soil, this feature is not very important, but when used in terrariums it is critical to insect safety.
Depending on the number and size of insects in the growing container, the hydrogel should be replenished regularly and replaced every few days if contaminated with insect faeces.
Note: The hydrogel should be stored in a dry place out of direct sunlight. If you swallow dry hydrogel, see your doctor immediately.
